About

Investigator:

Qian-Jie Fu, Ph.D.

Research Summary:

Cochlear implant is an electronic device that provides the function of the damaged or absent hair cells by delivering electrical stimulation to the remaining auditory nerve fibers. While overall cochlear implant patients’ speech performance has improved greatly with the advance of cochlear implant technology over the last two decades, understanding speech in background noise and music appreciation remain challenging for cochlear implant patients. The focus of this laboratory is to develop novel audio processing schemes and effective auditory rehabilitation tools to maximize the benefit of cochlear implants and/or hearing aids.
