for Electron Microscopists
12th - 22nd June 2000 Electron Microscopy and Stereology in Molecular Cell Biology
The first part of the course will provide practical experience and lectures in immunoelectron microscopy techniques such as freeze substitution and embedding in Lowicryl resins, cryoultramicrotomy (Tokuyasu technique), preparation of gold probes, immunolabelling, preembedding labelling and silver enhancement. The last three days will focus on quantitative aspects and provide an introduction to basic stereology. Speakers/Instructors:
Applications should contain a short curriculum vitae, one letter of recommendation, a one- to two-pages summary of research interests, emphasizing in particular why this course would be useful to the future work of the applicant. The course is primarily aimed at postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. students who wish to learn state of the art, quantitative electron microscopy and immunoelectron microscopy.
