| Steve
Otto received his Bachelor degree in
Communication Science at Grinnell College in
1971. He completed his Master’s degree
in Audiology in 1975 and additional
post-graduate Ph.D. coursework at the
University of Iowa. Otto worked as an
audiologist at the Veterans Administration
Hospital in Iowa City before becoming a
Clinical Associate in the Department of
Speech Pathology and Audiology and a
Clinical Audiologist in the Department of
Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa
Hospital.
After ten years at the University
of Iowa Hospital, Otto embarked on a one
year sabbatical as a Cochlear Implant
Clinical Specialist for Cochlear Pty.
LTD., in Sydney, Australia. Upon his
return to the United States, Otto became
a Research Audiologist at the House Ear
Institute. In 1989 Otto became Chief
Audiologist and Coordinator for the
Auditory Brainstem Implant Project.
Otto’s research has appeared in
numerous publications regarding the
Cochlear Implant and Auditory Brainstem
Implants.
