Ali Andalibi, Ph.D., is the section chief for Gene Based Therapy in the House Ear Institute’s Cell and Molecular Biology Department. He is principal and co-investigator on research studies including those focused on the Pathogenesis of Ear Diseases. Dr. Andalibi oversees multiple cell and molecular biology projects including, among others, the role of innate immunity in otitis media (middle ear infection), determination of the role of HSV-1 in the pathogenesis of Meniere’s Disease, and development and characterization of schwannoma (tumor) and schwann cell lines. He has been conducting scientific research in the areas of hearing loss and genetics for more than seven years.
An accomplished science writer, Dr. Andalibi is responsible for writing and editing research grants and patents for the Institute’s Cell and Molecular Biology Department. He is currently co-authoring two scientific manuscripts with colleagues at HEI, and has co-authored numerous articles for publications such as Genomics, Journal of Clinical
Investigation, Nature, Science and The Hearing Review.
A native of California, Dr. Andalibi earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, before attending the University of California at Los Angeles to earn his Doctoral Degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. After completing his Ph.D., Andalibi worked in UCLA’s Department of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar and an Assistant Research Cardiologist.
