In-School Teen Workshops in Hearing Conservation
Are Available in So. California
Now middle schools and high schools throughout Southern California have an opportunity to give their teen students the face-to-face facts5 about noise-induced hearing loss, compliments of House Research Institute's teen initiative, It's How You Listen that Counts®. This program is based on House Research Institute's successful online initiative launched in January. 2006, and has received rave reviews from several teachers and students who have hosted our workshops to-date.
Capacity: The workshops can be held for a min. of 30 students to a max. of 1,500 per day. Workshops can accommodate small classrooms or school auditoriums.
Time Schedule: Allow for a 20 to 30 minute presentation and a 20 minute Q&A.
Format: A representative from House Ear Institute engages the teens with both audio and visual demonstrations on the topic of noise-induced hearing loss and its prevention. It's tailored with teen interests in mind.
Student Hand-outs: Flyers, earplugs and classroom posters are among the materials distributed to the students. Earbud.org t-shirt giveaways and contest prizes can also be made available.
