The House Ear Institute welcomes otolaryngologists, neurosurgeons, residents in training, and hearing health specialists, from all over the world, who wish to further their studies. Participants of the Visiting Physicians Program stay for a few days, a week or the maximum of three months.
During their stay, visiting physicians observe surgery at St. Vincent Medical Center and patient care by the members of the House Ear Clinic, Inc. They attend lectures given during a Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Course and participate in weekly meetings that include Journal Club, Grand Rounds, patient chart discussions and other scientific and clinical presentations. The Institute otologic library and library of surgical videotapes also are available for use. The Director of Education is Dr. Antonio De la Cruz.

Transporation:
The House Ear Institute is a mile west of downtown Los Angeles, on the south side of St. Vincent Medical Center near Third and Alvarado Streets. This is a short taxi ride from the Union Station. From Union Station, the Metro Rail station close to the Institute is the West Lake MacArthur Park Red Line Station.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - Union Station
Union Station FlyAway Buses pick up arriving passengers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) terminals and deliver them to Union Station and vice versa. Buses run every 30 minutes from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. and every hour from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. One-way cash-only fares: $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 2-12 and free for children younger than 2. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminals- Hotels
There is a frequent airport shuttle service from Los Angeles International Airport to downtown hotels (Los Angeles Marriott Downtown, Biltmore, Omni Los Angeles Hotel), all about ten minutes taxi ride from the Institute.
One can proceed to the Vans Pick up area (outside the Baggage Claim area) of the airport terminals upon arrival at LAX.
Call a shuttle service such as the Super Shuttle, five hours before departure to go to the airport. Taxicabs authorized by Airport Taxicab Management have a flat rate charge between LAX airport and downtown. For city bus information, call the MTA (213) 626-4455 or visit

The Institute parking entrance is near the corner of Third and Lake Streets on the Lake Street side. The Institute does not provide transportation to and from the hotels.

Registration:
Registration for the Visiting Physicians Program is in the Reception Area, 5th Floor, at the House Ear Institute, 2100 West Third Street, Los Angeles, California 90057, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 in the morning to 4:45 in the afternoon. The Institute parking entrance is near the corner of Third and Lake Streets, on the Lake Street side.
