Martin Maren has been in executive management and technical operations for more than twenty years and has accumulated experience in the healthcare, high-tech electronic manufacturing, and network television. He joined the House Ear Institute as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2002.
As CFO, Martin has overall responsibility for several aspects of operations and management for the Institute including finance and accounting, information technology, human resources, facilities management, and the research library. As a member of the executive management team, Martin plays an integral role in the development and implementation of the Institute’s strategic planning.

Before coming to the Institute, Martin was Director of Finance and Corporate Treasurer for the Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for corporate finance and strategic planning. Martin has been appointed to management positions which include Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Technology Officer, Corporate Treasurer, and has been a Project Manager in the aerospace industry. Martin has also held academic appointments at four universities and has taught graduate level courses in system dynamics, finance, accounting, real estate, and information technology.


Martin is a graduate of the Advanced Study Program in System Dynamics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Systems Management, an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance, and an M.S. in Engineering. Martin is a three time nominee for Financial Executive of the Year by the Institute of Management Accountants, was nominated for the Pinnacle Award by the Microsoft Corporation, and as a Laureate led the Institute in winning the 2006 Computerworld Honors Award for contribution to science through information technology. Martin has presented original work and computer simulation models to conferences in the field of nonlinear dynamics.
