Advanced Research Associate
POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will be the main support for the Section Chief who plays the role of both a physician and research scientist. This person is expected to contribute to Internal and External contracts and grant proposals, develop and conduct experiments, provide support and supervision to the research staff, record and analyze data, and contributes to the preparation and submission of reports and/or publications.
-Applies new and/or advanced research skills and techniques.
-Some independent design of experiments and interpretation of results.
-Functions independently on assigned projects.
-Originates and/or contributes to publication and presentation of research results.
-Contributes to preparation of contract and grant proposals for departmental projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
This position requires excellent research methodology skills, computer skills, statistics and analysis skills, scientific writing and oral communication skills. This person is required to work well independently as well as under the guidance of a senior level person, emanate a teamwork atmosphere, provide guidance to research staff in the lab, and maintain a successful and productive laboratory. A strong background in human genetics is a necessity. A M.D. or Ph.D. preferred.
